Luke Ahern, featured UW – Madison Graduate Student Artist for Spring, 2012
at UWMC, creates work that is “engulfed in contemporary culture in relation
to the ancient history of paint.” His art is “sporadic, instantaneous and
non-linear” and focuses on “disparate strands of information and sentiment”
about “the tension of surface, image and object, while dealing with the
inherent rift between language and visual perception.”
Ahern will be receiving his MFA from UW-Madison this upcoming spring.
In 2009 he completed his BFA at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
He has had the opportunity to exhibit his work nationally in gallery settings
and alternative spaces. His artistic practice involves multiple mediums
including visual art and music.
