With the recent popularity of television shows such as Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, the world of ballroom dancing is exploding across the nation. Perhaps you are already experts, looking for new opportunities and venues to exercise your skills. Perhaps you are a little rusty, looking to polish up your steps for that upcoming wedding or holiday celebration. Or maybe you feel most comfortable sitting in the comfort of your audience seat as you admire the swirling, graceful couples tangoing and waltzing before your eyes on the panoramic stage of the new Center for Civic Engagement on the University of Wisconsin – Marathon County campus. Whatever your preference, you are invited to a fun, informal ballroom dancing event on March 9, 2012, from 7-9:30 p.m. This event will be an opportunity to join students of Professor Bart Gray’s UWMC Ballroom Dancing class for an evening that showcases what the students have learned under the expert tutelage of local dance teachers Missy and Jeff Kolbeck. The public is invited to step up on stage, dance, and even receive pointers from the students and the Kolbecks on steps ranging from Rhumba to Hustle to Foxtrot and more. All are invited, bring your partner, the event is free, and a reception featuring light hors d’oeuvres, with social time, will follow. No tickets necessary, just a willingness to put on your “dancin’ shoes” and have a good time!
