Student Life

UWMC Ambassadors

Ambassadors are a select group of students who represent UWMC at official campus functions. Being an Ambassador is the highest and most prestigious student leadership opportunity on campus.

Approximately 15 students serve a one-year term, with the possibility of returning for another year as a Senior Ambassador. They are nominated by faculty and staff and go through a selection and training process.

Throughout the year Ambassadors give tours, work at campus events, serve on special committees, host dignitaries and more.

To request an Ambassador's service, please fill in the following Ambassador Request Form:

2011-2012 Ambassadors

Klare Armstrong

Hi! My name is Klare Armstrong, and I am a sophomore. I am a 2010 graduate of Eau Claire Memorial High School, majoring in Psychology, with plans to transfer to UW-Stout next fall. In addition to being an Ambassador, I am a community advisor at Marathon Hall. I have really enjoyed my time at UWMC and enjoy going to campus events. When I'm not studying, I like spending time with my friends in Wausau, as well as going home to Eau Claire to visit my family. I am honored to be an Ambassador and to represent UWMC's student body. If you have any questions about the university or ever want a tour of the campus, let me know, I would be glad to help!

Becky Dahlke

Hi, I am Becky Dahlke, and I am glad to be serving as an Ambassador this year. My goal is to help my fellow classmates in any way possible. I am in my second year here and am planning on transferring next fall to UW-River Falls to pursue a major in Biology and a minor Agriculture. I would like to teach in a high school- or collegiate-setting. Other goals that I have are to maintain my position on the Dean’s list and succeed in classes.

Dan Ehmke

Hello, my name is Dan Ehmke. It is an honor to be a returning Ambassador this year. I am also happy to say that I have gotten my associate’s degree from UWMC and have moved onto the collaborative Business degree program at UW-Stevens Point while remaining at UWMC. Since I have been in college, I have learned to balance my private life, the stresses of college and work. It is a tough mix, but I know I will be rewarded in the end. Simply remember my motto when things get tough: “If you think you can. You will.” Don’t be afraid to stop me in the halls to ask questions. I am always willing to help out.

Kaylee Heikkinen

Hello! My name is Kaylee Heikkinen, and I'm from Prentice, Wis. This is my second year at UWMC, and I am honored to be an Ambassador. I enjoy volunteering at the humane society, running, biking, reading, traveling and spending time with my family and friends. My plans include a career as a Nurse Practitioner because health care fascinates me, and I want to make a difference in peoples’ lives. I've had such a great experience at UWMC that I want to share all that our school has to offer with others. I look forward to meeting new people on campus and what this year has in store!

Scott Kimmons

Hi, my name is Scott Kimmons. I am a non-traditional sophomore at the MC. I earned my High School Equivalency Degree during the summer of 2007 and enrolled that fall at Northcentral Technical College. For different reasons, I transferred to the MC in the fall of 2010. I have worked on farms, in factories, in the woods, and I did some roofing. I’ve always been interested in the medical field and now with my H.S.E.D. I can go for it. Good luck to all of you, and if you see me in the halls or in class, please say hi. Have a great year!

Ka Lor

Greetings fellow classmates! My name is Ka Lor, and this is my third and last year at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County. I am a Pre-med major, going into Dermatology. I will be transferring to UW-Milwaukee next year. I am also a lover of the arts so it is easy to find me in the art building on campus. I'm very easy to approach, and I do love to talk and joke. Hence, don't be afraid to talk to me while I serve as your student Ambassador this year!

Andrew Lotz

Hello, my name is Andrew Lotz, and I am a 2010 graduate of Wausau West High School. I am a sophomore. I am majoring in Biology but have a love and interest in all of the sciences. My second love is music, and I appreciate almost every type or genre of music. I enjoy reading, playing video games, surfing the web, playing sports and hanging out with friends. This is my first year as an Ambassador, and I have high hopes. Helping people in any sense of the word has always made me happy, and I trust this excitement will carry over to the tours and events that we will be hosting. I’m thrilled to show you the way of the Huskies.

Kristina Neff-Fergot

Hey! My name is Kristina Neff-Fergot but feel free to call me Tina. I am a sophomore. I grew up in the Village of Edgar, which is much smaller in population than Wausau. After completing my associate’s degree at UWMC, I will transfer to UW-Oshkosh next year, majoring in Criminal Justice. My goal is to move out to the West Coast and pursue a career in law enforcement. If you can't find me on campus, I am most likely at the downtown YMCA, where I work as a coach for the Wausau Whirlers competitive gymnastics team. When I get a little free time, I enjoy snowboarding and spending time with my family. With only 56 students in my high school graduating class, I was nervous about attending the MC. But with the help of last year’s ambassadors, all of my fears vanished, and I became comfortable and learned that I love it here. Don't be scared to ask me for anything. I'll be more than happy to help! Thanks!

Rachel Samuelson

Hello! My name is Rachel Samuelson. I am privileged to be an Ambassador at UWMC this year. I also serve as the Gender & Women’s Issues director for our Student Government Association and as the assistant manager of the Student Union. I will be majoring in Genetics and possibly Nanotechnology. I am planning on transferring to UW-Madison and then possibly to the University in Washington to get my Ph.D. In my free time, I try to read as much as possible and spend time with my friends.

Abigail Wellhoefer

Hello, my name is Abigail Wellhoefer. I am currently a sophomore, and I am working on transferring to UW-Eau Claire to get a bachelor’s degree in Business. I have been a part of the dance club on campus and am hoping to start my own club this year as well. As a student, I really enjoy helping around campus in any way I can, whether it is tutoring in the English room or giving a tour to new students. If you have any questions, just find me. I would be more than willing to help.

Chantall Willson

Hello! My name is Chantall Willson. I chose to serve as an Ambassador because it keeps me professionally and personally connected to my campus. This volunteer experience has allowed me to network and acquire a level of comfort while attending UWMC, which has benefitted my education drastically. For many, the road to college is rough. Financial burdens, personal life hiccups, curriculum challenges or simply the balance of it all are difficulties that many students face. As a single-parent, balancing these responsibilities has not been easy. With the help of the resources at UWMC, I am proud to say that I spend a large portion of my time volunteering to represent this wonderful institution.
