Dear Alumna/Alumnus,

Please plan to join us for our alumni basketball activities (5^th annual) on Saturday, January 17, 1998. We had a wonderful time at last year's 50^th celebration and the enthusiastic group of over 40 people who attended our social and dinner insisted that we meet again this year. They selected the open weekend before the Super Bowl to avoid conflicts with the football playoffs.

This year's format features the women's alumni-varsity game at 11:00 a.m., a men's varsity contest with UW Fox Valley at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's alumni game at 3:00 p.m. Visit or participate as you wish but do plan to attend the social at 4:30 p.m., and dinner at 6:00 p.m.

At an October meeting of UWMC alumni, it was decided to combine the athletes with other alumni for the social and dinner. I'm certain a good number of UWMC faculty and staff will also attend. We're excited about this special gathering and are expecting a good turnout. Spouses and children are invited. You may receive an invitation from Dean Massey as well; one response is adequate.

Over $500 was raised last year through your generous contributions to the Husky Fund. I hope some day to have a substantial amount in this account from which to spend the interest for special purchases. This would supplement the segregated fee budget, the students' contributions. I do not hesitate to ask you because I know it is a good cause and because the UWMC coaches, faculty and staff are working so hard in support of our programs.

Thanks to the UWMC Foundation, we have a terrific new sound system in the gym. We also have two beautiful new scoreboards, given a business arrangement with Coca Cola. So please save for us the bar codes from their products on 12 packs and cases; each is worth 10 cents and revenue will go into the Husky Fund.

Thanks for your support and we're looking forward to seeing everyone on January 17. You must see our new facilities including the new John Runkel Student Union, where we'll meet for the social. We're serving lasagna and chicken at the buffet dinner in the cafeteria. Please respond by Monday, January 12, or ASAP.
