Student Services
The Student Services Office is located at the main entrance to the
campus. This is where you would apply for admission, obtain financial aid
information, meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, visit the
Career Center for college and career information, and find out about student
activities. |

Computer
Lab
The Computer Lab has over 50 computers. Available to the students
on PC's are Microsoft Office, Email, Internet access, Quark, and laser printers.
There is also a Mac Lab used by art, music and science students and a computer
classroom is inside the lab.

Theatre
The Theatre is used for campus drama productions (two plays a
year), Lecture and Fine Arts musical and theatrical events, comedians, speakers
and music department concerts.

Terrace Room
The Terrace Room is used mostly for group
meetings, student activities, and visiting community groups.
|
|
Cafeteria
Basic
cafeteria style - choose entrees, sides, desserts, and drinks. Open seven
days a week, with hours posted outside the door. Students who do not live
in the Residence Hall can eat on a pay-as-you-go basis. Students who live
in the Residence Hall are required to be on the meal plan.

Music Department
Students can join choir, show choir, band and jazz band. Classes
are for students who are planning to be a music or education majors, or who
choose music as an elective.

Computer
Classroom
The Computer Classroom been set up for delivering courses that
require the use of technology. The classroom has been equipped with computers
for specific courses. Several math, business, and computer science classes
are held in this room.

Distance
Education
The DE room houses state-of-the-art interactive video equipment. Students
at UWMC can take classes that are offered on another campus if they
are not available here.

Administration
Office
This
includes the Dean's office and the Business office. It is where you go to
pay tuition and fees, and pick up financial aid checks.
|
|
Large Lecture Hall
This is our largest lecture hall at UWMC. It holds 230. No classes
of 400-500 students here! The usual ratio of students to faculty is 18-1.

Library
Here you'll find group study rooms, the library classroom, the
card catalog on computer, general stacks, different study areas around the
library, and the current periodical section in the round area. If we don't
have a book or resource we can get it within two days from the state library
system.

Bookstore
Go to the bookstore to purchase all books and supplies for classes.
It is a non-profit co-op, so your average cost for books per semester will
be $200 - 250. The Bookstore also has UWMC clothing.

Student Association
Office
The Student Association represents the student body and consists
of: a president, vice-president, treasurer/secretary, a shared governance
director, 3 freshman representatives, 3 sophomore representatives, 3
non-traditional representatives and a Marathon Hall representative. Elections
for president and treasurer/secretary are held in the spring. Elections for
all other positions are held in the fall.

Student
Union
This is the hang-out place for students between and after classes.
Available are snack foods, a jukebox and games - pool table, darts, electronic
games. The round Room is a more quiet area that students use more for studying.

Tutoring Lab - Math/English Resource
Center
The Tutoring Lab offers free help in math and english classes
during the posted hours. Get an individual tutor in any class for $1.00 per
hour. |

Planetarium
The Planetarium is used to teach courses
in astronomy and some programs to the community. It projects the Solar System
and other celestial panoramas onto a domed ceiling. |

The Forum Office
This is the student newspaper office. It is completely student operated
by Student writers and an editor, with a professional advisor. This can be
taken as credit class.

The Ahrnsbrak
Room
The Ahrnsbrak Room is used for conferences,
workshops, meetings, University Extension classes, community groups, it is
named after Henry C. Ahrnsbrak, the Director (Dean) of the campus from 1947
to 1965.

Continuing Education Office & Wisconsin
Public Radio
The Continuing Education Department offers non-credit special
interests and lifelong learning opportunities to the community and UWMC
students/faculty/staff.
The Wisconsin Public Radio broadcast morning news and local
information.

Art Department
The art rooms in the basement of the south end of the building
are used for painting, drawing, print making, and life drawing classes.
|
|
Chemistry Resource Room and Faculty
Offices
Students can use the Chemistry Resource Room to do research for
chemistry classes and to study. Chemistry faculty have offices located within
the Resource Room.

Chemistry Labs
This is where the chemistry people hang out. The labs are standard,
with hoods and individual stations. |
Botany Lab
Botany is the study of plants. In addition to the Botany Lab,
UWMC also has a greenhouse for Botany students to observe and get practical
experience.

Physics/Astronomy
Lab
Physics is the study of mechanics, heat, wave motion and sound.
Astronomy is the study of the stars, solar system, stars, nebulae, etc. The
lab is used for practical application and demonstrations.

Biology/Anatomy/Physiology
Lab
Biology is the study of the natural world through the human
perspective. The labs are the practical application of what is studied in
the text and given in lecture. |

Geography/Geology/Engineering
Lab
Geography can include both the study of peoples and their culture
and of the physical factors which form the natural environment. Engineering
encompasses design, mechanics, dynamics and strength of materials. |

The
Fieldhouse
As
you enter you'll find the information board that has hours for the swimming
pool, the gym, weight room, intramural schedules, and varsity sport schedules.
A racquetball court is down the hall. |

Marathon Hall
Marathon Hall , the residence hall for campus students, has double
rooms, with a capacity of 158 men and women and it offers educational workshops
and fun activities.The residence hall director lives on site. The front desk
offers some food and drink services. There's a kitchen facility, quiet study
lounge, TV lounge, computer lab, and game room.
