The MTHWWW World Wide Web Server was set up by Dr. M. Maheswaran, Professor of Mathematics at UWMC, for the purpose of catering to the academic needs and general interests of students, faculty and staff at UWMC and at other universities and colleges. It was established as a true WWW Server on May 1, 1994 and was the first WWW Server set up at UWMC as well as the UW Colleges. The server was operational internally on a trial basis using a faculty computer from December 1993 until May 1, 1994.
The objective of the server project is to create an archive of educational and other useful materials of interest to students, faculty and staff at UWMC and other undergraduate institutions. Materials from all disciplines and, also, areas of interest will be included.
The hypertext/hypermedia materials that are made available on this server may be accessed by first linking to the Homepage using a WWW Browser such as Cello or Mosaic. The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for the Homepage is:http://mthwww.uwc.edu/wwwmahes/homepage.htm
Some of the materials that have been provided on the server are:
- UWMC Information, Materials and References
- Materials for Undergraduate Courses
- Subjectwise WWW References
- Information of Interest to College Teachers
- Search Libraries

- About the MTHWWW Server
The catalog of mathematics resources and references that has been compiled for this server is, perhaps, one of the most comprehensive such catalog that is available in the entire WWW. This was done by scouring the WWW during Summer 1994.
Faculty, Staff and Students are invited to submit materials that are appropriate for inclusion in the server. These can include course materials and notes, syllabi, time-tables, handouts, student information, etc. They should be submitted to Dr. Maheswaran. Please check the section on "Materials for Undergraduate Courses" to get an idea of the type of materials that can be included. Plain-text or hypermedia materials intended for undergraduate courses are especially welcome. The MTHWWW Server website at UWMC has received several awards of excellence.
