Sauk Prairie Player to attend UW Marathon

Steve Zimmer, from Sauk Prairie High School (Sauk City/Prairie du Sac, WI) will attend UW Marathon next fall and play basketball for the Huskies.

Zimmer, a 6'1" versatile athlete capable of playing anywhere from the point guard to the small forward position, replaced an injured starter most of the season before returning to his sixth man position for the Eagles tournament run. Zimmer averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds a game while shooting 52% from the floor.

Sauk Prairie, one of the premier division II programs in the state, successfully defended their Badger Conference Title, finishing 15-1 in conference play. The 25-2 Eagles also reeled off another outstanding WIAA tournament run, advancing to the Division II State Championship for the second consecutive year under Coach Tom Andres.

UWMC Coach Dave Gibbs was elated with the Zimmer's decision. "Like all the players in Coach (Tom) Andres' program, Steve is a complete player. He can run, shoot, defend, and most importantly, play with the team's goals in mind. We are excited about his commitment to our program."

Zimmer joins a program that set a school record for single season victories (19) and made their first trip to the Wisconsin Junior College Final Four in 1996-97.
