Tomahawk High School Standout Commits to Huskies

Tomahawk High School athlete Justin Rigney will attend UW Marathon County next fall. Rigney, a 6'3" guard, led his team in scoring at 10.3 points per game. Under new head coach Mike Houle the much-improved Hatchets posted a 9-14 overall record (4-8 conference) this past season.

Rigney, who played the point and off-guard positions in high school, added 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while being named Honorable Mention All-Lumberjack Conference. He nailed 46% of his three point attempts (46/101). As a senior he was named co-captain and received co-mvp honors.

Coach Dave Gibbs was elated with Rigney's decision to join the Huskies basketball program. "Justin is no stranger to our gym, having been involved in the summer basketball league the last three years. He is a solid basketball player and at 6'3" has real nice size for a guard. He can pass, shoot, defend, and has good basketball sense."

Rigney, the son of Steve and Ruth Rigney of Tomahawk, has been an honor roll student throughout high school and plans to major in education.
